In the event of a claim, you should attempt to follow the procedures outlined hereunder in order to have your loss expeditiously resolved.

You should thoroughly review your policy so that you are aware of specific definitions and conditions that apply to the insurance coverage you have purchased. Each policy will have Claims Procedure Conditions.
Remember an Insurance policy is a contract between you and your insurance company.
Instead of waiting until a loss strikes you or your family, save time, money and anxiety by applying the following simple steps:
Look through your policy to see what is – and isn’t – covered.
The coverage and exclusions in your insurance policy can differ significantly from company to company. The best advice is to understand your policy before you have a claim.
- Ask your Insurance company representative, Agent or Broker to explain anything you do not understand.
- Talk to your Insurance company representative, Agent or Broker before agreeing to anything.
Independent Loss Adjuster
Independent Loss Adjusters means any person who for compensation, a fee, a commission or a salary investigates and negotiates settlement of claims arising under insurance contracts, solely on behalf of either the insurer or the insured.
Independent Loss Adjusters can be appointed to:
- Survey Losses
- Survey and Quantify Losses
- Advise on Policy Liability
Independent Loss Adjusters reports are prepared without prejudice and are confidential to the client who appointed them.
Claims Forms
- All questions on the Forms must be factually and completely answered.
- Motor: First Domestic Policies are restricted to mature drivers only, i.e. twenty-five (25) years old and over, driving for more than two (2) years accident free. Contact previous Insurers to ascertain accuracy of the information pertaining to reported claims and / or No Claim Discounts. No Claim Discounts must be confirmed either by letter or renewal notice from previous Insurer or by telephone discussion with previous Insurer. The name of the Company / Branch and the person confirming the No Claim Discount must be noted on the file and initialed by the Underwriter receiving such information.
- In the case of Motor Insurance, a completed Gulf’s standard Vehicle Inspection Form and ensure that the vehicle complies with all licensing inspection / certification requirements
- All vehicles must be licensed in accordance with the Rules and Regulations outlined in the Road Traffic Act and Amendments to same.
